Planned Giving

First Step of Sarasota provides quality care with Compassion, Respect, and Dignity for those with mental-health and substance-use challenges.

One way to support its mission is to Include First Step of Sarasota as a beneficiary in your estate planning.

Regardless of your age, estate planning ensures that your estate goes to the loved ones and charitable organizations of your choosing. We would be honored to be included in your estate plan so we can continue to help those in need.

Join our Compassionate Legacy Society to leave a lasting legacy for generations to come.

The Compassionate Legacy Society is a growing group of donors who care about securing the economic future of First Step  and its ability to continue serving future generations of people with mental-health and substance-use disorders.

As one Society member, John C., said: “I care for my community and those affected by mental-health and substance-abuse challenges. It was important to me that I support the essential work that First Step is doing in our community."

We encourage you to consult with a professional who is familiar with estate law for more information on making a planned gift to First Step of Sarasota.

These are just a few options:

Banking or Brokerage Assets
You can name First Step as your after-death beneficiary. Notify your firm to fill out the necessary paperwork.

Charitable Bequest in Your Will or Trust
You can create a permanent legacy by leaving a bequest of a specific amount of cash, a percentage of your estate or the remainder of your estate to First Step of Sarasota, Inc.

Gift Using Appreciated Assets or Cash
When you create a legacy with a current gift of cash or other property, your fund may be used to pay an annual gift to First Step.

IRA or Qualified Retirement Plan
Naming First Step of Sarasota, Inc as the beneficiary of your IRA or qualified retirement plan, such as 401(k) or 403 (b) plans, can save on income and estate taxes while providing support to our organization.

Life Insurance
Life insurance is an advantageous and inexpensive way to create a legacy. You can purchase a new policy or you can transfer an existing policy and name First Step of Sarasota, Inc. as its owner.
