DISCHARGE PLANNER 

Position: Planner– CSU Program, 10th Street Campus

Job Type: Full Time

Qualifications:  BA in behavioral healthcare field with a minimum of 2 years mental health related experience. Master's Degree preferred.  

Job Duties 

Assists Director of Nursing in the discharge process for all CSU clients, post discharge follow-up, maintaining cooperative relations with community agencies and service providers, and meeting with families to develop and implement appropriate discharge plans for after care

 

 
 
Administrative assistant/office coordinator

Position: Administrative Assistant/Office Coordinator– CSU Program, 10th Street Campus

Job Type: Full Time. Shift differentials apply to evening, night, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications: Position requires a High School Degree or equivalent. Must be able to pass Department of Children and Families Level II background screenings. Experience in providing front desk reception and routing calls through a multiline phone system is preferred. Strong computer skills are required, preferable using Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel, and Powerpoint. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are required. Experience with an electronic medical record system required, AVATAR preferred. Bilingual required. 

Job Duties: This position will provide administrative support to the Director of Emergency Services. 

APRN - psychiatric

Position: APRN – Residential Program & Detox, 18th Street, 10th Street & Residential Campus

Job Type: Part Time

Qualifications: Psychiatric APRN to perform psychiatric evaluations and medication clinics required. APRN as issued by the Florida Board of Nursing and the American Nurses Credentialing Center as a Family Nurse Practitioner.

Job Duties: The APRN candidate will be responsible for interviewing clients, obtaining and recording health histories, performing physical assessments as well as assessing mental and developmental client status within a substance use disorder treatment setting. In addition, he/she will be responsible for ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests and procedures when necessary along with managing the healthcare for those clients to whom he/she has been assigned, including providing health teaching and counseling, nutritional recommendations and modifications of diet, consultation, collaborative management and/or referrals as appropriate.

The APRN candidate will evaluate the outcomes of prescribed treatment and plans of care, analyze health behaviors related to personality, illness, culture and lifestyle and its impact on the client's health, and will be responsible for maintaining the medical records, providing emergency treatment and referring to community resources when applicable.

Clinical program assistant

Position: Clinical Program Assistant – Mothers & Infants Program, 18th Street Campus

Job Type: Full Time

Qualifications: Knowledge and understanding of substance abuse; strong people skills to provide excellent internal and external customer service. High school diploma or equivalent.

Job Duties: Supports team leader by following, communicating, and implementing administrative and clinical systems, procedures, and policies. Maintains workflow by studying methods, implementing cost reductions, and developing reporting procedures. Creates and revises systems and procedures by analyzing operating practices, recordkeeping systems, forms control, office layout, and implementing changes. Ensures operation of equipment by completing required preventive maintenance, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, evaluating new equipment and techniques. Provides information by answering questions and requests. Maintains supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory level, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders, verifying receipt of supplies. Provides daily assistance to clients by performing basic physical assessments, nutritional needs analyses, providing social interaction opportunities. Protects clients and co-workers by adhering to infection-control and hazardous waste policies and protocols and attending required and approved educational training sessions. Documents client information by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information; accurately completes required paperwork procedures. Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential; follows established confidentiality policy and procedures; maintains professional boundaries with clients. Supervises; assists team leader in the hiring, training, and terminations of direct report substance abuse technicians.

Clinical supervisor

Position: Clinical Supervisor– Sarasota Outpatient Program, 10th Street Campus

Job Type: Full Time

Qualifications: Master’s degree in a human services field; two years supervisory experience; licensed and certified clinical supervisor

Job Duties: Provides clinical supervision to specified program/location; integrates and promotes corporate mission. Mental-health and substance-abuse training; strong people skills to provide excellent internal and external customer service.

Cook

Position: Cook – Dietary, 18th Street Campus

Job Type: Full Time

Qualifications: Position requires a high school degree or equivalent. Must be able to pass Department of Children and Families Level II background screenings. Knowledge of basic dietary and nutritional principles; strong people skills to provide excellent internal and external customer service.

Job Duties: Supports nutritional needs of clients by preparing and serving food according to established meal plans. 

Counselor – residential

Position: Counselor - Seasons Program, North Washington Campus

Job Type: Full Time

Qualifications: A BA in a related field in behavioral health care or a BA in an unrelated field with three years’ experience in behavioral health care or equivalent with three years experience in addictions counseling and/or college course work in psychology or related field. Valid Florida Drivers’ License.

Job Duties: Restores or develops the client’s ability to function substance-free by assessing the client’s situation, setting goals and providing required services to clients. Obtains’ assistance for the client by referring him or her to community resources. Fosters client’s action or adjustment by interpreting attitudes and patterns of behavior; addresses court-related consequences to on-campus behavior. Maintains client confidential records by documenting client’s situation and client’s own actions; accurately completes required paperwork. Complies with federal, state, and local legal requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforces adherence to requirements; advises management on needed actions; participates in quality reviews; reports needed changes; facilitates groups; and participates in in-house staff meetings.

Counselor - outpatient

Position: Counselor – Sarasota Outpatient Prevention Program, 17th Street Campus

Job Type: Full Time

Qualifications: A BA in a related field and two years’ experience in behavioral health care or a BA in an unrelated field with three years’ experience in behavioral health care. Primary substance abuse and/or mental health training; strong people skills to provide excellent internal and external customer service.

Job Duties: Restores or develops the client’s ability to function substance-free by assessing the client’s situation, setting goals, and providing required services; integrates and promotes corporate mission. 

Early Intervention Program (EIP) specialist

Position: EIP Specialist – Intervention/Outreach Program, 17th Street Campus

Job Type: Full Time

Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge and understanding of substance abuse and HIV disease; current training in HIV 104 and 501; strong people skills to provide excellent internal and external customer service.

Job Duties: Provides street education, prevention, and intervention on substance abuse and HIV disease by distributing approved documentation materials throughout the community. The candidate will present risk-reducing behaviors to at-risk populations and individuals by explaining behavior options and interpretations. Will educate clients by conducting pre- and post-test counseling for HIV antibody testing. In addition, will coordinate planning services available to clients by interviewing clients, assessing the needs and goals of clients and providing emergency/crisis intervention services by referring clients to other appropriate programs

LPN

Position: LPN – ARF, Detox & CSU Program, 10th Street Campus & 18th Street Campus

Job Type: Full Time, Part Time

Qualifications: One year general nursing experience and /or substance abuse nursing experience; strong people skills to provide excellent internal and external customer service. Current Florida license as a Licensed Practical Nurse.

Job Duties: Promotes and restores the client’s health by completing the nursing process and collaborating with physicians and multidisciplinary team members.

Mental health therapist (school-based)

Position: Mental Health Therapist (School-Based)

Job Type: Full Time, 12-month position

Qualifications: Candidate must have a master’s degree in psychology, social work, counseling, or related field. Therapists must be licensed or in the process of becoming licensed. A strong foundation in providing trauma-informed care is required. Experience providing mental health services to youth and families is required. Experience providing substance abuse services to youth and families is a plus. Candidates must have a flexible schedule to accommodate families’ needs. They must also be familiar with electronic medical records and insurance billing requirements.

Job Duties: This position will provide support to youth, families, and staff. Candidates must be confident working independently in a school setting, including working with faculty.  The position will provide therapeutic intervention and counseling services to children and families at school and/or home or office if better suited for the family as well as links to community service, as needed. 

RN

Position: RN - ARF, Detox & CSU Program, 10th Street Campus and 18th Street Campus

Job Type: Full Time, Part Time

Qualifications: General nursing experience and/or substance abuse nursing experience; strong people skills to provide excellent internal and external customer service. Current Florida license as a Registered Nurse.

Job Duties: Promotes and restores client’s health by completing the nursing process and collaborates with physicians and multidisciplinary team members.

Student assistance specialist

Position: Student Assistance Specialist - Sarasota School Program

Job Type: Full Time

Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a behavioral health field, with at least two years experience in treating substance abuse. Excellent working knowledge of substance abuse issues and evidence-based treatments for substance-abuse conditions.  Ability to work through brief client contacts as well as to make quick and accurate screenings of mental and behavioral conditions.  Should be comfortable with the pace of the academic setting, working with an interdisciplinary team, and have strong communication skills. Good knowledge of community resources. To perform this job successfully, an individual should know how to use word processing software.

Job Duties: Provide behavioral health prevention and early intervention to include school-wide universal prevention and consultation to adolescents, adults, and families in order to improve psychosocial functioning within an academic setting. 

Substance abuse technician – ARF/Detox

Position: Substance Abuse Technician – ARF/Detox Program, 18th Street Campus

Job Type: Full Time, Part Time, Per Diem. Shift differentials apply to evening, night, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications: Position requires a high school degree or equivalent. Must be able to pass Department of Children and Families Level II background screenings. 

Job Duties: Assisting the professional staff and monitoring clients in a rehabilitation setting. The candidate is responsible for making sure clients receive the needs and services necessary to ensure their recovery. They will do laundry and monitor the condition of clients.

Substance abuse technician – Choices

Position: Substance Abuse Technician – Choices Program, 18th Street Campus

Job Type: Full Time, Part Time, Per Diem. Shift differentials apply to evening, night, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications: Position requires a high school degree or equivalent. Must be able to pass the Department of Children and Families Level II background screenings. Clinical care experience; strong people skills to provide excellent internal and external customer service; competency in basic computer skills.

Job Duties: Provides assistance and supervision to clients; compiles, reviews, and files documentation of client care; communicates effectively with tech supervisor.

Substance abuse technician – CSU

Position: Substance Abuse Technician – CSU Program, 10th Street Campus

Job Type: Full Time, Part Time, Per Diem. Shift differentials apply to evening, night, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications: Position requires a high school degree or equivalent. Must be able to pass the Department of Children and Families Level II background screenings. 

Job Duties: Assisting the professional staff and monitoring clients in a rehabilitation setting. The candidate is responsible for making sure clients receive the needs and services necessary to ensure their recovery. Will do laundry and monitor condition of clients.

Substance abuse technician – Mothers & Infants

Position: Substance Abuse Technician – Mothers & Infants Program, 18th Street Campus

Job Type: Full Time, Part Time, Per Diem. Shift differentials apply to evening, night, and weekend shifts. This is not a CNA position.

Qualifications: Must be dependable, possess clear boundaries, be team-oriented and committed. Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to pass the Department of Children and Families Level II background screenings. 

Job Duties: Substance abuse technicians work in a residential recovery environment serving pregnant mothers and infants. Responsibilities include but are not limited to assisting the professional staff and monitoring clients in a rehabilitation setting; ensuring that clients adhere to program expectations and requirements to support their recovery; interacting with clients throughout shift, monitoring clients; and reporting outcomes to professional staff as needed. Requires interacting with expectant mothers, infants, and newborns.

Substance abuse technicians – residential

Position: Substance Abuse Technician – Residential Program, North Washington Campus

Job Type: Full Time, Part Time, 7 a.m.-7 p.m., Saturday-Sunday, Per Diem. Shift differentials apply to evening, night, and weekend shifts.

Qualifications: Position requires a high school diploma or equivalent. Must be able to pass the Department of Children and Families Level II background screenings. 

Job Duties: Assisting the professional staff and monitoring the clients in a rehabilitation setting. Responsibilities include making sure clients receive the needs and services necessary to ensure their recovery. Will do laundry and monitor the condition of clients. 

Therapist

Position: Therapist - Sarasota Outpatient Program, North Port Campus

Job Type: Full Time

Qualifications: Master’s degree in the behavioral health field. Licensed in the State of Florida as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Mental Health Counselor, or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. Excellent working knowledge of substance abuse issues and evidence-based treatments for medical and substance abuse conditions. Ability to work through brief patient contacts as well as to make quick and accurate clinical assessments of mental and behavioral conditions. Should be comfortable with the pace of primary care, working with an interdisciplinary team, and have strong communication skills. Also needed are a good knowledge of psycho-pharmacology; the ability to design and implement clinical pathways and protocols for the treatment of selected chronic conditions; and knowledge of word processing software.

Job Duties: Provide substance abuse consultation to adolescents, adults, and families to improve psychosocial functioning within a primary care setting. 

Twelfth Judicial Circuit Court Sarasota Drug Court (Opiate Track) Case Manager

Position: The Sarasota Drug Court Program of the Twelfth Judicial Circuit is seeking a Drug Court (Opiate Track) case manager. Drug Court is a specialized treatment court that combines legal proceedings, addictions treatment, and rehabilitation into one program. Client participation is voluntary in this judicially supervised treatment approach developed jointly by court staff and mental health professionals. 

Job Type: The case manager will be an employee of First Step of Sarasota, supervised by the Court, and based in Sarasota.

Job Duties: Providing case management services to program participants, establishing and maintaining community partnerships, advocating for the program, and reporting program data to the Court and community partners.

Duties also include:

  • Identifying individuals who meet Drug Court criteria and provide initial assessments
  • Creating individualized case plans and monitor participants’ progress
  • Collecting, documenting, and maintaining participant data, progress reports, test results, etc. 
  • Facilitating group sessions to help provide participants with life skills and additional access to resources
  • Linking participants to available community resources and resolve client issues
  • Attending court and agency staff meetings.

Qualifications: We are seeking someone who has experience working with the mental health/substance abuse population. Our ideal candidate has a work history that demonstrates he/she is proactive, self-motivated, and has the ability to work with clients in this unique program setting. The proven ability to form relationships with local community service agencies is a plus.

Some of the skills, knowledge, and abilities needed are:

  • Basic knowledge of the the legal system, court processes, and procedures
  • Knowledge of mental health and related issues
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Understanding of case management limits and what constitutes the unauthorized practice of law
  • Ability to analyze files and move cases through the court process.

Education: A bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, counseling, social or behavioral science, or a closely related field from an accredited college or university.
